Diseases of the musculoskeletal system occupy the second place in the structure of temporary disability of the adult population and the third place in terms of the frequency of causes of disability and mortality. The most common disease of the musculoskeletal system and the most common cause of disability in older people is osteoarthritis. One of the most effective methods for restoring the quality of life of patients suffering from osteoarthritis is endoprosthesis replacement of the damaged joint. Medical rehabilitation is a recognized area of medical care and its mandatory stage, which is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach. Protocols currently in use include clinical ways of coordinating the activities of multifunctional groups of orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, kinesiotherapists, nurses in massage, and others involved in helping patients after endoprosthetic replacement. In recent years, early postoperative rehabilitation (Enhanced Recovery after Surgery - ERAS) - a protocol involving the use of interdisciplinary multicomponent programs for standardization and improvement of patient management algorithms in the perioperative period, is becoming increasingly widespread in various fields of medicine. The goal of ERAS is to provide faster and more efficient recovery of patients using methods whose effectiveness is justified by using evidence-based medicine. It has been demonstrated that ERAS makes it possible to achieve a reduction in the incidence of postoperative complications by 50%, the length of stay in hospital by 30%, and the frequency of repeated hospitalizations, thereby reducing the cost of healthcare. Restoration of the functional capabilities of patients after endoprosthetics of large joints still remains a difficult problem, the solution of which should be aimed at improving the quality of life of patients, successful restoration of their social and labor activity. In this regard, it is relevant to conduct research aimed at improving and increasing the effectiveness of medical rehabilitation methods.
